Superfoods load a big punch of nutrition in a small crunch. The Dietary substances which provide minerals, vitamins, and antioxidants are referred to as ‘superfoods’. They are a vital component of our diet.
Superfoods are the powerhouse of the nutrients which are essential for our body’s nourishment. Also they boost our immune system and resist major and minor diseases.
Superfoods are mainly of plant-based, but there are some animal-based superfoods also available.
- Superfoods present in cereals-
QUINOA- Quinoa is also called as Supergrain which contains fibre and protein. And it is Gluten-free.
OATS- Oats are a natural superfood. It not only contains vitamins and minerals but also it is rich in fibre. Beta-glucan is present in oats which is a soluble fibre. It contains phenols which are antioxidant.
- Superfoods present in pulses-
SOYABEAN- Soyabean is rich in proteins and fibres. It acts as an antioxidant.
- Superfoods present in nuts and Dry fruits-
WALNUTS-Walnut contains Melatonin which is antioxidant. Walnuts are rich in proteins and it has the highest antioxidant property than any other nuts.
Dryfruits also contain antioxidants which protect us from cancer and other chronic diseases.
- Superfoods present in Spices-
GINGER – Ginger is the substance which mostly available in Indian kitchen. It is known as “Healing Spice Of Ayurveda.” Fresh ginger provides relief from nausea and dried ginger is best to reduce joint pains.
TURMERIC- Turmeric which is most popular in Indian recipes has an anti-inflammatory effect. It provides relief from skin disease and also help to control blood sugar levels. It plays an important role in Ayurveda.
CINNAMON- It has very great value in Ayurveda. It improves digestion and circulation. It also removes toxins from the body.
Ayurveda believes in such types of superfoods. So Ayurveda always encourages people to include these superfoods in their daily diet to live a healthy lifestyle.
